HISTORIC COTTON MILL RENOVATION
This project is the renovation of a single condo unit in an 19th century cotton mill in downtown Raleigh, NC. The existing space was a dark and dreary maze, and the design concept for the space sought to satisfy the owner’s needs without the use of conventional walls and doors. Utilitarian functions and storage are tightly organized within a single wood-clad volume that divides sleeping and bathing space from living/working spaces. The original mill building is celebrated by uncovering the original 1800’s brick and wood structure.

FOOD BANK CENC HEADQUARTERS
The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina serves over 600,000 hungry NC residents and moves over 60 million pounds of food each year. Facing severe infrastructure shortages, Food Bank CENC was forced to turn away millions of pounds of food prior to purchasing this property near Downtown Raleigh. This resulting $6M renovation project saw the gutting and revitalization of a 1960’s furniture store and automotive tire shop into the new headquarters and distribution facility of one of NC’s largest non-profit organizations.

BASICS GROCERY STORE SIGNAGE
Marketing agency Maxwell PR approached us about helping to create a signage package for a new grocery store. Using the visual identity that Maxwell had developed, we worked with the design team to design several wood signage and lightbox elements. These not only orient visitors, but also express the company’s “just what you need” brand through their simple, rustic design.
